REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ORDINANCE: O-2005-42

SUBJECT: Ordinance declaring the City's intent to acquire interests in real property for the Wadsworth Boulevard at Ohio Avenue Project.

ADDRESS: 810 South Wadsworth Boulevard and 823 South Vance Street.

RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of this ordinance.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The City will be constructing street improvements along South Wadsworth Boulevard frontage of the properties located at 810 South Wadsworth Boulevard and 823 South Vance Street. These improvements are for a deceleration lane for northbound vehicular traffic on Wadsworth Boulevard turning east onto West Ohio Avenue to enhance traffic flow through the intersection. It is anticipated that construction will be completed by the end of 2006. In order to start construction of the improvements at the scheduled date, the City needs to start acquiring the property interests necessary for this project. Funding for the project is approximately seventy percent federal funds and thirty percent Lakewood matching funds. Resolution 2005-75 authorizing an intergovernmental agreement with Colorado Department of Transportation was approved by City Council on Monday, November 28, 2005.
