ORDINANCE: O-2005-33
SUBJECT: Ordinance vacating Teller Street right-of-way between West Colfax Avenue and West 14th Avenue.
ADDRESS: Teller Street between West Colfax Avenue and West 14th Avenue.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of this vacation.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The City of Lakewood owns the property
along the west side of Teller Street between Colfax Avenue and 14th Street.
The City has entered into a contract to sell the property to a developer who
proposes to construct a new Home Depot store at this location. The development
would include the properties on the east side of Teller Street as well. The
City would like to eliminate cut through traffic on Teller, and has encouraged
a land use plan which eliminates Teller Street. The right-of-way for Teller
Street is incorporated into the re-development of these properties; therefore
the right-of-way for Teller Street should be vacated. The vacation of this right-of-way
will be subject to the developer acquiring all of the properties necessary for
the development as well as approval of the re-plat and re-zoning needed to re-develop
the property. City staff as well as appropriate referral agencies have reviewed
this request and have no concerns.
