ORDINANCE: O-2005-21
SUBJECT: Designating newspaper for publication of ordinances and other matters
ADDRESS: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of ordinance.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: Due to a significant cost savings, this ordinance names the Rocky Mountain News the official newspaper for the City of Lakewood. Currently, Lakewood's official newspaper in regards to publishing legal notices is the Denver Post. The Denver Post charges $2.60 per line for legal advertisements and $10.00 per ad to place them on their website (required).
The Rocky Mountain News will be publishing an insert to their newspaper titled YourHub.com which will be included with every mailing of the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Post, beginning with their first publication on July 14, 2005. YourHub.com will be neighborhood specific and the one to be distributed in Lakewood will include information specific to Lakewood. As of July 14, 2005, we would publish our legal ads in that insert.
If we establish the Rocky Mountain News as the City's official newspaper, and start advertising in it now, we will receive the same rate today as we will when we advertise in the insert. The rate is $0.83 per line for legal advertisements and $1.00 per ad to place each ad on their website (required).
