ORDINANCE: O-2005-20
SUBJECT: Designating newspaper for publication of ordinances and other matters
ADDRESS: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of ordinance.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: Ordinance O-83-175 named the Lakewood Sentinel as the designated newspaper for the publication of city ordinances, public hearings, and other matters. The City was notified by the President and Publisher of the Lakewood Sentinel that the Lakewood Sentinel will no longer qualify as a legal newspaper for these types of publications. Staff is recommending that City Council designate the Denver Post as the city's official newspaper. Furthermore, publication of ordinances in the Denver Post will only be done by title and reference number; referring the reader back to Lakewood's official website and the City Clerk's Office for reading of an ordinance in its entirety.
