SUBJECT: An ordinance amending Lakewood Municipal Code Chapter 5.24 and the Lakewood Zoning Ordinance relating to pawnbroker businesses.

RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the ordinance
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
The purpose of the ordinance is to provide for the dispersal of pawnshop businesses within the City. The ordinance provides that pawnshops must be located at least one mile from an existing pawnshop. The ordinance does not apply to existing pawnshops nor to pawnshop applicants who have received a City building permit prior to the effective date of the ordinance.
