RECREATION AND PARKS MONTH
JULY 2005
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council desire to join the National Recreation and Park Association in recognizing that July is Recreation and Parks Month; and
WHEREAS, parks, recreation activities and leisure experiences improve the quality of Lakewood residents' lives by providing opportunities for people to live, grow and come together to experience a sense of community; and
WHEREAS, as we observe Recreation and Parks Month during the month of July, we recognize the vital contribution of employees and volunteers in Lakewood's numerous parks, four recreation centers and four outdoor pools. These dedicated supporters keep public parks clean, safe, and accessible for the enjoyment of all; and
WHEREAS, we encourage all citizens to enjoy the many amenities Lakewood has to offer by taking part in their favorite sports or recreational activities as well as relaxing with their friends and families.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, I, Steve Burkholder, Mayor of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim July 2005 as
RECREATION AND PARKS MONTH
in the City of Lakewood.
