Lakewood Senior Citizens' Advisory Commission December 8, 2004 Minutes

Meeting called to order by Chairman, Roice Horning at 4:00 p.m. at the Carmel
Oaks, Senior Living Community
Introductions: Welcome and introduction of commission members, guests, and
attending residents of Carmel Oaks.
1. Minutes: Motion made by Bill Minard and seconded by Carolyn Evans to approve
minutes. Noted correction on presentation to be held on January 25, 2005 is
for the Westgate Neighborhood Association rather than Westlake. Motion approved
unanimously.
Presentations:
Sue Bozinovski, Director of Services for the Aging for the Denver Regional
Council of Governments presented the findings of the Strengths and Needs Assessment
of Older Adults in the Denver Metro Area prepared by DRCOG with an emphasis
on the findings in Jefferson County. Our thanks to Sue for her time and assistance
in reviewing the results of this study. Copies were provided for commission
members.
Commission Business:
I. Roice indicated the establishment of a liaison, Bill Minard, to the Heritage, Culture, and the Arts Commission. Edie indicated changes to the list noting Bill and Harry's position.
2. Roice Homing recommended the January meeting time be used as a planning workshop to brainstorm and make recommendations on revising the Working Action Plan for 2005 with concentration on realistic goals for the Commission. Walt recommended review of last year's plan prior to the January meeting. Shelly Frohs volunteered to facilitate this meeting.
3. Roice asked for feedback and discussion on the Strengths and Needs presentation. Discussion followed.
Adjournment: Motion made by Lisa Thompson to adjourn meeting, seconded by George Hoerter, and approved by all. Meeting adjourned at 5:20p.m.
The meeting was followed by a holiday dinner in the Carmel Oaks dining room
arranged by Tami, Edie, and Roice. Our thanks for their assistance in arranging
this special event.
