Untitled Document REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

RESOLUTION: 2004-82

SUBJECT: Entering into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) for intersection improvements at Wadsworth Boulevard and 26th Avenue.

RECOMMENDATION: Approval.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The alignment of the center median in Wadsworth Blvd. creates visibility problems for southbound left turn movements onto 26th Avenue. Lakewood staff submitted the site as a safety hazard elimination project through CDOT and was successful in obtaining federal funds.

The project will reconstruct the center median in Wadsworth Boulevard north of 26th Avenue and replace the signal pole on the southwest corner of the intersection. We anticipate that design work will be completed early in 2005 with construction being completed by the end of 2005.

Federal funds totaling $125,000 have been obtained for the project. The City's contribution is estimated to be $5,000. The money for Lakewood's share is available from the Capital Improvement Fund.
