A RESOLUTION

CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD FOR CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE CITY CHARTER

WHEREAS, Article VI, Section 6.3 of the Lakewood City Charter states that regular municipal elections shall be held in each odd-numbered year on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November; and

WHEREAS, TABOR provides that ballot issues concerning various fiscal matters addressed in TABOR may be submitted to voters only on specified election dates, one of which is the first Tuesday in November of odd-numbered years; and

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lakewood proposes to place language on the November 2, 2004 ballot to change the City Charter so that the date for regular municipal elections coincides with the date for TABOR elections; and

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lakewood wishes to make additional clarifying changes to the Lakewood City Charter.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The City council hereby calls for a Special Municipal Election to be held in the City of Lakewood on November 2, 2004.

SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby delegated the authority to take all actions necessary to conduct such election.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 9 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on July 26, 2004, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
