A RESOLUTION

APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE RENAMING OF DENVER WEST BOULEVARD BETWEEN WEST COLFAX AVENUE TO THE CENTERLINE OF I-70

WHEREAS, Section 31-15-702(1)(a)(VII) C.R.S. authorizes the City Council to name and change the name of any street; and

WHEREAS, the City Council found it appropriate to change the name of Indiana Street to Denver West Colorado Mills Boulevard to better identify and facilitate access to the site from U.S. 6; and

WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood, Colorado Department of Transportation and the Denver West and Colorado Mills developments have continued to work to better identify and facilitate access to the site from I-70; and

WHEREAS, the City Council finds it appropriate to change the name of a certain street to meet signing criteria of the Colorado Department of Transportation, as more particularly set forth herein.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado that:

SECTION 1. The City Council hereby approves the change of street name, "Denver West Boulevard" to "Denver West Colorado Mills Parkway", commencing at the intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Denver West Boulevard, thence generally north to the centerline of I-70.

SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to implement these street name changes, including appropriate notification to utility companies, fire departments, postal authorities, and other effected agencies.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by vote of 9 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on July 26th, 2004, at 7:00 o'clock p.m., at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
