A RESOLUTION

ACCEPTING THE BID AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE ALAMEDA/JEWELL AVENUE SAFETY PROJECT.

WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood entered into an agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation to improve the Alameda/Jewell Avenue intersection; and

WHEREAS, by invitation to bid No. 2478, the City of Lakewood advertised for bids for the Alameda and Jewell Avenue Safety improvement project and bids were opened on July 1, 2004; and

WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible and qualified bidder has been determined to be New Design Construction Company, which has submitted its bid in the amount of Four Hundred Sixty-six Thousand Six Hundred Forty-one and 00/100 dollars ($466,641.00). Pursuant to City specifications and instructions, the City desires to accept the bid of said bidder.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The bid of New Design Construction Company, for the Alameda/Jewell Safety improvement project as described an Invitation to Bid No. 2478 is hereby accepted according to the specifications as defined in the Invitation to Bid.

SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute and the City Clerk attest a contract with said bidder in form approved by the City Attorney in the amount of Four Hundred Sixty-six Thousand Six Hundred Forty-one and 00/100 dollars ($466,641.00) and to authorize an additional Forty-six Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-four and 10/100 dollars ($46,664.10) for contingencies for a total amount not to exceed Five Hundred Thirteen Thousand Three Hundred Five and 10/100 dollars ($513,305.10).

SECTION 3. The City Treasurer is hereby authorized to make payment to New Design Construction Company in accordance with the terms of said contract.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 9 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on July 26, 2004, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center South, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
