ADDRESS: 15600 W. Morrison Road, Morrison, CO 80465
RECOMMENDATION: The Department of Community Resources recommends the approval of this resolution approving the terms and conditions of the grant agreement and authorizing the Director of Community Resources to sign the above subject grant agreement administered through GOCO.
FUNDING SOURCE: Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO)
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The City of Lakewood applied for a
grant from GOCO and was selected to receive funding in the amount of the $87,702.00
(Eighty seven thousand seven hundred two dollars). This funding is for improvements
at Pelican Point in Bear Creek Lake Park.
The area known as Pelican Point is located just west of Bear Creek Reservoir.
The portion of Pelican Point where these improvements will be made already has
a 300-car gravel parking lot, nature and fitness trails, an exercise station,
and a flat sheltered open space where there is a 250-degree view of Bear Creek
Lake Park. The site is in walking distance of the archery range, horse riding
stables, and campground facilities.
The Pelican Point in Bear Creek Lake Park improvements will include the construction of a 34' x 76' picnic shelter, minor grading, minor landscaping work, and the installation of a Romtec vault restroom. The improvements now possible as a result of this GOCO grant will enhance the site for the enjoyment of the community.
