A RESOLUTION

APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH MULLER ENGINEERING COMPANY FOR DESIGN OF MISCELLANEOUS TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS.

WHEREAS, the existing signalized intersections are high-accident locations and the traffic signal displays are in need of improvement; and

WHEREAS, the City and the Colorado Department of Transportation have agreed to enter into an intergovernmental agreement for the design and re-construction of six traffic signals along Kipling Parkway/Street and Colfax Avenue; and

WHEREAS, nine engineering design firms were interviewed and the firm of Muller Engineering Company was selected as the best qualified to design the traffic signal improvements; and

WHEREAS, the design fees are estimated not to exceed $185,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute and the City Clerk to attest a contract with Muller Engineering Company for the design of miscellaneous traffic signal improvements, in form approved by the City Attorney, in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Eighty Five Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($185,000).

SECTION 2. The City Treasurer is hereby authorized to make payment to Muller Engineering Company in accordance with the terms of said contract.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 11 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on April 12, 2004, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood City Hall, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
