RESOLUTION: 2004-8
SUBJECT: Authorizing the Director of Community Resources to sign the grant agreements with Great Outdoors Colorado regarding the Aviation Club Park Improvements and Molholm Elementary School Playground projects.
ADDRESS: 1890 Teller, Lakewood, CO 80214
6000 W. 9th Avenue, Lakewood, CO 80214
RECOMMENDATION: The Department of Community Resources recommends the approval of this resolution authorizing the Director of Community Resources to sign the Great Outdoors Colorado grant agreements.
FUNDING SOURCE: Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO)
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The City of Lakewood applied for two grants from Great Outdoors Colorado and were selected to receive funding for the two projects: Aviation Club Park Improvements and the Molholm Elementary School Playground.
The Aviation Club Park Improvements will include site work, walkways, lighting, a playground, picnic tables, natural areas and landscaping.
Molholm Elementary School approached the City to help them secure funds for this playground. The school is not eligible to apply for GOCO funds. Great Outdoors Colorado encourages local government to support community efforts and their grant opportunities allow for these types of grant partnerships. The City's role with this project will simply be to request reimbursement of funds through GOCO upon completion of the project by the school.
