ORDINANCE: O-2004-1
SUBJECT: Emergency ordinance authorizing the City to convey an easement to the Lakewood Housing Authority for the water service line and a sanitary sewer service line to the Lakewood Housing Authority building located at 1205 Quail Street.
ADDRESS: 1205 Quail Street.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of this ordinance authorizing conveyance of the Right-of-way Agreement to Lakewood Housing Authority.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: After the City of Lakewood conveyed the property at 1205 Quail Street to the Lakewood Housing Authority it was discovered that the water and sanitary sewer line to this building are tied to the services to the building just to the east, which is owned by Gambro. The Housing Authority Building legally should be on its own service. Gambro, The Consolidated Mutual Water Company and Daniels Sanitation District have requested that the utility services to this building be disconnected from Gambro's building and put on its own service. These services will have to come from the main line in West Collins Avenue, therefore, the City needs to convey to the Lakewood Housing Authority an easement across that property the City owns between West Collins Avenue and the Housing Authority property so that a water line and a sanitary sewer line can be connected to the Housing Authority building. Staff has reviewed the proposed location of the easement for these services and determined that it is in the right location and will not interfere with the future use of the City land.
