Meeting called to order by Chairman, Roice Horning at 4:05. Guests were welcomed. Kathleen and Julie and Nan requested to be on the Commission's email list.

I. Minutes: No June minutes required as that meeting was a Planning Meeting not regular meeting. No meeting in July.

II. Announcements: Meetings and events: Colorado Senior Lobby August 28th, from 8:30 - 2pm; LSCAC Community Presentation at West Alameda Gateway Assoc., from 8 to 9:30 at the Learning Source 455 S. Pierce St. Legislative BBQ is September 28th. from 5pm to 7pm at the Jefferson County Fair Grounds, JCCoA Seniors Issues Forum is October 14th from 1pm to 5pm at the North Jeffco Senior Recreation Center 6842 Wadsworth Blvd., in Arvada. .

Lakewood is taking part in a Nat'l. League of Cities grant program to enhance public participation in City government-Democratic Governance Committee appointed by Mayor. Roice was asked by the Mayor to be part of the yearlong study group.

Commissions & Boards applicant interviews are August 30th.

Budget: The proposed Commission Budget Request for 2005 was reviewed, amended and approved by. It will be submitted to the Director of the Mayor and City Manager's office

III. Committee Reports:

The Commission discussed its operational committees and membership---It was agreed to maintain and support the Communication and Legislative Committees as we proceed with a Commission of several new members.

An ad hoc committee will be developed to revise and update the 2003 Working Action Plan, including Roice Horning and Jackie Campeau. Committee recommendations will be made at the Sept. meeting.

Communication - There will be 30 "Let Your Voice Be Heard" cards mailed to organizations on the list announcing the availability of community presentations to the remainder of the list of community organizations.

The format, materials and content of the community presentation was reviewed with feedback and suggestions by members and guests.

Staff - Tami will get City budget information to Roice. Edie announced Citizens Police Academy Sept. 8th. She reviewed highlights and distributed results of participant satisfaction survey of Clements Center and Older Adult Programs, the "Aiming for Excellence" i.e. staff, facility, and programs which indicated over 80% positive responses

IV. Future Agendas:

Future Agenda items were discussed along with the concurrent use of the agenda planning and accountability process introduced during the last year. The Sept. agenda will include:
A. Committee recommendations on revising and updating the 2003 Working Action Plan---action as appropriate
B. Reports by Committees---Communication and Legislation
C. A review of the Dep't. of Housing and Family Services and related city government operation relevant to the work of the Commission

Adjournment: Motion made by Jackie Campeau to adjourn meeting, seconded by Joanne Ruzzo, no discussion, approved by all. Meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
