The following are the minutes of the January 21, 2004 Lakewood Planning Commission Public hearing. A permanent set of these minutes is retained in the office of the City Clerk, City of Lakewood.

ITEM 1. ELECTION OF OFFICERS

COMMISSIONER MARINO nominated COMMISSIONER QUINN as the new Chairman to the Planning Commission for 2004.
COMMISSIONER CHOI seconded the nomination.

Vote was 5 for and 0 against by a show of hands.

COMMISSIONER QUINN nominated COMMISSIONER MARINO as Vice Chairman.
COMMISSIONER CHOI seconded the nomination.

Vote was 5 for and 0 against.

COMMISSIONER CHOI nominated COMMISSIONER HOLLEN as Secretary.
COMMISSIONER MARINO seconded the nomination.

Vote was 5 for and 0 against.

At this point in the meeting, COMMISSIONER MALM turned over the Chairmanship, seat and gavel to the new Chairman, COMMISSIONER QUINN.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

ITEM 2 Minutes from the Public Hearing of December 17, 2003 were approved with one change.

COMMISSIONER LLOYD moved to approve the minutes.
COMMISSIONER MALM seconded.

Approved by a 5 - 0 show of hands.

ITEM 3 GENERAL BUSINESS

COMMISSIONER QUINN reported the NREL Seminar he, COMMISSIONER MALM, and Roger Wadnal presented at was very worthwhile. The presentation on 'Community Sustainability' was good for outreach.

COMMISSIONER MARINO thanked COMMISSIONER MALM for her leadership, communication skills, and insight during her term as Planning Commission Chair. COMMISSIONER LLOYD also wanted to thank COMMISSIONER MALM. COMMISSIONER QUINN said thanks and that he appreciated her wisdom and experience. ROGER WADNAL agreed with the above statements and added thanks for keeping the Action Steps on track.

COMMISSIONER QUINN discussed the upcoming Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute Conference that will take place Thursday, March 11th and Friday, March 12th. ROGER WADNAL said there should be some good zoning techniques presented at the conference. All commissioners were asked to let Vicki Kaufman know as soon as possible if they wanted to attend. COMMISSIONERS MALM, CHOI, and MARINO expressed an interest in attending this year's conferences.

COMMISSIONER MARINO mentioned the upcoming APA Conference. It will be in Washington DC, on April 25-28, 2004. Roger suggested letting staff know as soon as possible if you want to attend.

ITEM 4 COMMISSIONERS COMMENTS

COMMISSIONER QUINN said he received correspondence from Citizen's of Green Mountain regarding proposed housing in that area. COMMISSIONER QUINN passed the letter, signed petition sheets and a letter from the Audubon Society of Greater Denver to the Planning Commission Secretary for safekeeping. This issue is not ready to come before the commission yet.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no other business to come before the Lakewood Planning Commission, the public hearing of January 21, 2004 was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
