P R O C L A M A T I O N
Recognizing April 12, 2004 as
ADAM NEWMAN DAY
WHEREAS, Adam Newman has demonstrated his musical talents through the mastery of the viola; and
WHEREAS, he started playing Irish fiddle music at the age of seven and developed his skills on classical violin from the age 10; and
WHEREAS, he initially taught himself viola and made it his main instrument by including lessons from age 14. His studies have also included the harp and piano; and
WHEREAS, he has been the leader of the viola section in the Merseyside Youth Orchestra based in Liverpool and has toured in Europe with the orchestra. He also plays violin with a piano trio and the viola in a quartet. He performs at special functions in venues around Merseyside, Cheshire and Manchester, and has toured with various orchestras in Spain, Prague, Strasbourg and Germany; and
WHEREAS, he enjoys a variety of music especially musical theatre and singing. He was a UK finalist for the prestigious European Youth Orchestra; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood is extremely proud to welcome Adam Newman as the 2004 representative of the Chester, England Music Scholar Exchange Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the City Council and the residents of Lakewood, I, Steve Burkholder, Mayor of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim April 12, 2004 as
ADAM NEWMAN DAY
in the City of Lakewood, and extend our best wishes to him throughout his musical endeavors.
