P R O C L A M A T I O N
In appreciation of Robert Brown
In recognition of his conscientious and dedicated service to the residents of Lakewood
WHEREAS, Robert Brown joined the Bancroft Fire Department in 1972 as a cadet and has served as a firefighter, engineer, lieutenant, fire investigator, captain and assistant chief before becoming the chief of West Metro Fire Rescue, the state's largest metropolitan fire district; and
WHEREAS, during his 31 years of service, he attended the National Fire Academy, served as chairman of the Apprenticeship Council, completed the Lakewood Police Academy and served as a board member of the Fallen Firefighter's Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Chief Brown's career included several outstanding accomplishments including becoming the first emergency medical technician for his department in 1974, served as coordinator of the Bancroft Fire District Hazardous Materials Response Team, and was nominated for the 1994 Colorado Fire Investigator of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council wish to give our sincere thanks to Chief Brown for his devoted service to the residents of Lakewood; and
WHEREAS, in conjunction with Chief Brown's retirement, we formally recognize his dedication to the West Metro Fire Protection District and the City of Lakewood.
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Lakewood, I, Steve Burkholder, Mayor of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim appreciation to Chief Robert Brown for his 31 years of service to the City of Lakewood.
