MINUTES
November 12, 2003

COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Cay Bettinghaus, Jackie Campeau, Susan Enney, Faye Hastings, Walt Heidenfelder, Roice Horning, Bill Minard, JoAnn Furay, Ellen Rey

Roice Horning, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m.

I. Announcements
a. Thanks was given to Cheryl for hosting the meeting and providing food.
b. JoAnn Furay is resigning effective 1/1/04.

II. Minutes:
a. Motion was made by Susan Enney to approve minutes with change in Joni Sievert's name. Motion was seconded and approved by Commission.

III. Committee Notes
a. The Cultural Diversity Commission is changing their meeting place each month, to get out into the community. This month they met in Ward 5. A report on the demographic survey was presented.
b. Walt: Legislation - Red Rocks Community College will have a Martin Luther King breakfast on January 19, 2004 and the Commission has been invited to attend. $12 cost.
c. All commission appointments are being changed to reflect a March end date. Elections will be held in March with nominations in January.
d. Vote to change by-laws to allow Faye and Susy to co-chair the Communications Committee. Motion was made by Bill and seconded by JoAnn
e. Cay gave copies of the Final Environmental Impact Statement from RTD to be looked at by Commission.
f. Passout on Citizens for Lakewood's Future. Ellen, Roice and Susy are participating in giving input for Spring event.
g. Communications Committee presented the beginning of the Communication Strategy to the Commission, including a passout for time and interest. Discussion on cost of printing brochure. Suggestions on getting quotes for pricing.

IV. December Meeting suggestions:
a. Toast to JoAnn for her work on the Commission
b. Joanne will contact The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging on Tabor presentation
c. Potluck will be held; Tammy's department will furnish main dish, committee to bring salads and desserts.

Motion was made and seconded to adjourn meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
