CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Bob Zachman called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Members Present: Joan Howard, Jan McConnell, Peg Reed, Bob Zachman, Letitia

Council Members: Debbie Koop and Barbara Martin
The public comment book was out and made available for public sign in.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes from September 17, 2003 were approved by unanimous vote.
GOOD NEWS
¨ Peg Reed stated that Jennifer's son recently had his bar mitzvah.
¨ Barb Martin stated that the "Three Generations Tea" fundraiser
cleared about $4000. Greg and Sue Stevenson will be giving a $4000 matching
grant. Baby Doe's Clothing store in Golden, will give 10% off all purchases
made in the name of "Three Generations Sculpture", December 6th thru
December 14th.
¨ Bob Zachman introduced Paula Young an O & O committee member who may
be interested in becoming a commissioner in the future.
¨ Niña Johnson introduced new staff: Jim Griffin, Steve Barbour,
Mikala Brooks and Lisa Janisch.
David Weichman asked about the status of the Mont Ayre Park home. It is on hold and surveys are being done.
OLD BUSINESS
Commission Newsletter - Zach Matyja gave a brief update on the commission newsletter.
He will continue to email the newsletter to commissioners and staff. If you
have any comments or suggestions for the newsletter please email to Zach.
Commissioner Spotlight - Jan McConnell gave a brief update on this new feature starting at the December meeting. At each meeting a commissioner will be "Spotlighted" this will included personal and professional data about each highlighted commissioner.
A City Resolution - Bob Zachman went over the resolution, stating that the commissioner terms will now end on September 30th of each term year.
HCA Membership - Bob Zachman encourages all commissioners to become an HCA Member. Membership shows support and dedication to the City and HCA Division.
SCFD Resolution - Cathy Te Slaa reviewed the "Renewal of SCFD Resolution of Support". Letters are due early this summer. She asked if you have connections with any service organizations to please pass along the letter to them.
David Weichman made a motion to accept and sign the SCFD Renewal Resolution, Barbara Tobiska seconded the motion. Will bring back next month for final approval.
HCA Retreat with Committee Chairs - Bob Zachman reviewed the retreat comments.
One big issue Bob would like to look at is the Friends Committee. One question
is do we need a fundraising arm?
A discussion ensued.
Cathy Te Slaa made a motion to form a sub-committee to take a look at reinventing a fundraising committee (Friends) and that it be made up of a representative of each of the existing four committees or commission members. Barbara Tobiska seconded the motion. Motion passed with a unanimous yes vote.
Bob Zachman will serve as a contact for the sub-committee.
Peg Reed made a motion for the Executive Committee be able to make decisions regarding this new sub-committee, so it can progress in a timely manner. Dave Weichman seconded the motion. Motion passed with a unanimous yes vote.
Bob asked if any commissioner or committee member would like to be included
on this committee to please let him know after the meeting.
Criteria for New Public Art Acquisition - Jan McConnell reviewed the document
"Criteria for New Public Art Acquisition in the City of Lakewood, Colorado".
All actions of the Public Art Committee are guided by "Public Art Policy
of the City of Lakewood," dated January 17, 2000. Briefly, the document
states, in part, that the Public Art Committee shall: "
develop the
public art components of
projects...and select artists appropriate to those
projects". "
select artists for projects whose art and collaborative
design efforts represent the highest level of quality and integrity".
A discussion ensued.
Barbara Tobiska made a motion to accept the document with the knowledge that it will be revised as needed. Peg Reed seconded the motion. Motion was passed with a unanimous yes vote.
STAFF REPORTS
Niña Johnson - Reviewed the new HCA Division Organizational Chart effective January 5, 2004. The Town of Parker is still working with the City of Lakewood for ideas and concepts for their new Town Center. Thanks to Donald Tallman, Niña and Mayor Burkholder will be featured on the "Cultural Buzz" program with Jim Condor this Saturday, at 11:50 a.m.
Robin Anderson - Working on the next exhibit scheduled for January with Jan McConnell's help.
Kim Kritz - Working on BRAVO this week. Trying to get a magazine look and will include some articles. Holiday advertising is hitting homes this week. The Holiday Show this weekend was excellent!
Win Filipunas - Win gave a brief update on the Landmarks Committee meeting. The meeting was held at the Graham House. Kathleen Norman who did the Two Creeks and Edgewood Survey gave a presentation of the process. Next meeting will be at Washington Heights with a tour of the O'Kane house.
Elizabeth Nosek - Has collected some great acquisitions from the former Philnor Pharmacy. There will be a caroling party on December 6th. Please sign up if you would like to participate.
Mike Buhler - Working on sponsor packets for 2004. Looking at the 2004 Events Calendar, maybe moving a few events etc. Mayor's Tree Lighting is Friday, December 5th, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mike thanked Niña and her supervisors on their effort and hard work on the reorganization of the division.
Bob Zachman invited Committee Chairs to the next Executive Committee Meeting on December 2nd.
Meeting was adjourned at 5:50 p.m. by unanimous vote.
