A RESOLUTION

ACCEPTANCE OF BID AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF KIPLING PARKWAY/MORRISON ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS.

WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood entered into an agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation to improve the Kipling Parkway/Morrison Road intersection; and

WHEREAS, by invitation to bid No. 2403, the City of Lakewood advertised for bids for the Kipling Parkway (SH 391) and Morrison Road intersection improvement project and bids were opened on November 6, 2003; and

WHEREAS, the lowest responsive, responsible and qualified bidder has been determined to be K.E.C.I. Colorado, Inc., which has submitted its bid in the amount of Nine Hundred Ninety-eight Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-three and 00/100 dollars ($998,663.00). Pursuant to City specifications and instructions, the City desires to accept the bid of said bidder.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The bid of K.E.C.I. Colorado, Inc., for the Kipling/Morrison Road intersection improvement project as described an Invitation to Bid No. 2403 is hereby accepted according to the specifications as defined in the Invitation to Bid.

SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute and the City Clerk attest a contract with said bidder in form approved by the City Attorney in the amount of Nine Hundred Ninety-eight Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-three and 00/100 dollars ($998,663.00) and to authorize an additional One Hundred Thousand and 00/100 dollars ($100,000.00) for additional work and contingencies for a total amount not to exceed of One Million Ninety-eight Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-three and 00/100 dollars ($1,098,663.00). The City Treasurer is hereby authorized to make payment to K.E.C.I. Colorado, Inc., in accordance with the terms of said contract.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 10 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on November 24, 2003, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center South, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
