A RESOLUTION

APPROVING A GRANT APPLICATION TO JEFFERSON COUNTY OPEN SPACE FOR THE SUMMIT LOOP TRAIL AT WILLIAM FREDERICK HAYDEN GREEN MOUNTAIN PARK.

WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood supports the completion of the Summit Loop Trail; and

WHEREAS, Jefferson County Open Space requires a resolution approving the application for funds; and

WHEREAS, there are over 80,000 visitors per year to William Frederick Hayden Green Mountain Park and the Summit Loop Trail will extend the miles of useable trails at the park, ease congestion on the existing trails and improve trail connections at the park; and

WHEREAS, the five-mile trail loop will provide amazing views of the Denver skyline, the City of Golden, South Table Mountain, Indian Peaks Wilderness, Rocky Mountain National Park, the eastern plains, and Mount Evans.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1: The Mayor and City Council hereby approve the recommendation of the Department of Community Resources to approve a grant application to Jefferson County Open Space to complete construction of the Summit Loop Trail at William Frederick Hayden Green Mountain Park.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by vote of 10 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on November 24, 2003, at 7:00 o'clock p.m., at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
