A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING THE ENTERING INTO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE FUND CONTRACT
WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood, on behalf of the Lakewood Police Department, has submitted an application to the Colorado Department of Transportation, Office of Transportation Safety for funding a Law Enforcement Assistance Fund (LEAF) project for the enforcement of laws pertaining to driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, pursuant to Sections 43-4-401 through 404, C.R.S. and to LEAF Rules at 2CCR 602.1; and
WHEREAS, the State has approved an application and has prepared a LEAF Contract which provides $55,000 for the enforcement of laws pertaining to driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has the authority and responsibility to fund the Lakewood Police Department and to sign contracts on behalf of the Lakewood Police Department; and
WHEREAS, a resolution by the City of Lakewood formally approving the LEAF Contract and authorizing the proper signature to be affixed to the Contract indicating such approval is required by the State of Colorado.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado that:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Clerk to attest to a contract allocating LEAF funds to the City of Lakewood, in a form approved by the City Attorney.
INTRODUCED, READ, AND ADOPTED by a vote of 11 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on October 27, 2003, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
