A RESOLUTION

AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (CDOT) FOR THE DESIGN AND RE-CONSTRUCTION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT: US 285 (HAMPDEN)/KIPLING PARKWAY; I-70/COLFAX AVENUE; SIMMS STREET/COLFAX AVENUE; AND KIPLING STREET/6TH AVENUE FRONTAGE ROAD.

WHEREAS, the existing signalized intersections are high-accident locations and the traffic signal displays are in need of improvement; and

WHEREAS, federal funds of $1,250,000 are available to re-construct the traffic signals with the City's contribution estimated at $5,000; and

WHEREAS, administration of the project will be coordinated through the Colorado Department of Transportation and requires the City enter into an agreement for providing design and construction of the traffic signals.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Clerk to attest, an agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), in form approved by the City Attorney, for design and construction of the project. The City of Lakewood's contribution shall not exceed Five Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($5,000).

SECTION 2. The City Treasurer is hereby authorized to make payment to the Colorado Department of Transportation in accordance with said contract.

INTRODUCED, READ, AND ADOPTED by a vote of 11 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on October 27, 2003, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
