A RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, a Senior Citizens' Advisory Commission was created by City Council in 2001 by Resolution 2001-78 to replace the Senior Citizens' Advisory Board to advise the City of Lakewood in matters pertaining to senior citizens and to improve the communication process between the City of Lakewood and senior citizens; and,

WHEREAS, the Senior Citizens' Advisory Commission currently consists of eleven members who serve staggered two years terms which expire on January 15 of the term end; and,

WHEREAS, City Council finds that it will be more efficient and practical to change the length of the term and the expiration date of the term.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The current length of term for members of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Commission is two years. Said term length shall hereby be three years.

SECTION 2. The current term expiration date for members of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Commission is January 15th of the last year of the member's term. Said expiration date is hereby changed to March 31st of the last year of the member's term.

SECTION 3. The Mayor may appoint one or more City Council members to serve as liaison to the Senior Citizens' Advisory Commission. The City Manager may appoint one or more staff members to serve as liaison to the Senior Citizens' Advisory Commission.

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its passage and approval.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 9 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on October 13, 2003, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
