A RESOLUTION

AUTHORIZING AWARD OF A CONTRACT FOR PARKING STRUCTURES MAINTENANCE AND WATERPROOFING TO THE LOWEST PRE-QUALIFIED BIDDER

WHEREAS, the parking structures at the Lakewood Civic Center require periodic maintenance and repair including the installation of waterproofing joint sealants; and,

WHEREAS, installation of the waterproofing joint sealants must be done under warm weather conditions; and,

WHEREAS, to complete the installation of the joint sealants it is necessary to award the construction contract as soon after bids are opened as possible; and,

WHEREAS, the City has prequalified a list of contractors to bid on the parking structures maintenance and waterproofing project.

BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into, and the City Clerk to attest, a contract with the low, prequalified bidder on the parking structures maintenance and waterproofing project, in form approved by the City Attorney without further City Council action, provided the bid amount is less than the project budget of $180,000.

SECTION 2. Said contract shall be for an amount not to exceed the low bid received plus an additional 10% of the low bid amount is hereby authorized for change orders, if needed.

SECTION 3. The City Finance Director is hereby authorized to make payment in accordance with the terms of said contract.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 10 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on August 25, 2003, at 7:00 p.m., at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
