A RESOLUTION

APPROVING PARTICIPATION BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD IN A COORDINATED ELECTION TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE JEFFERSON COUNTY CLERK AND RECORDER ON NOVEMBER 4, 2003

WHEREAS, November 4, 2003 is a designated coordinated election date under state law; and

WHEREAS, Lakewood City Council nominees will be placed on the November 4, 2003election ballot; and

WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder is the coordinated election official, responsible for conducting the election on behalf of the participating governmental jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS, an intergovernmental agreement will be signed between Jefferson County and the City of Lakewood for election service provision; and

WHEREAS, formal approval for participation in the coordinated election will become a part of that agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that :

SECTION 1. The Lakewood City Council approves its participation in a coordinated election to be held on November 4, 2003, said election to be conducted by the Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder.

SECTION 2. The Lakewood City Council hereby authorizes the City Clerk to take whatever action is necessary to effect the election, including compliance with all applicable state and local elections laws, as appropriate.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 11 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on July 28, 2003, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Civic Center South, Lakewood, Colorado.
