RESOLUTION: 2003-45

SUBJECT: Support for the Creation of the Colorado Fuel Cell Initiative.

RECOMMENDATION: Approval of Resolution.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The City of Lakewood and Jefferson County have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an exciting new alternative fuel initiative - the development of hydrogen fuel cells. A number of City Council members, as well as City Manager Mike Rock, have been meeting with other Jefferson County business leaders to explore a proposal called the Colorado Fuel Cell Initiative.

The Initiative is promising both from an environmental and an economical perspective. The attached resolution supports and urges not only the creation of the Initiative but also putting Lakewood in a lead position for coordination of the effort.
