A RESOLUTION

ESTABLISHING CERTAIN WATER FEES FOR THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD

WHEREAS, Section 13.04.120 of the Lakewood Municipal Code directs the City Council to establish by resolution water rates for customers of the water system of the City of Lakewood; and

WHEREAS, a comprehensive financial evaluation has been performed on the Lakewood water system; and

WHEREAS, as a result of the evaluation it is necessary to amend the water rates charged to the customers of the City of Lakewood water system; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1. The following rates are hereby established, effective July 15, 2003, as the water rates for the water utility of the City of Lakewood:

The water rates for customers of the City of Lakewood water system shall be based upon the following rate schedule. Water customers shall pay a standard, unvarying bi-monthly service charge based upon meter size. Additionally, customers shall pay a variable volume charge based on the amount of water used. Those water customers who use the fire protection service shall pay an additional bi-monthly fire protection amount based upon the size of the service.

SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to institute, modify and rescind drought surcharges in addition to the rates defined in Section 1 above. The City Manager shall determine the amounts of drought surcharges and dates during which drought surcharges apply based upon consideration of (a) the amounts and dates of Denver Water imposed drought surcharges, and (b) the revenue needed to offset Denver's drought surcharge on Lakewood
