RESOLUTION: 2003-33

SUBJECT: The Dictaphone Logging Recorder Contract

ADDRESS: Lakewood Police Communications Center, 9001 W Jewell Ave, Lakewood, CO 80232

RECOMMENDATION: Mayor and City Council authorize entering into the Dictaphone Contract to receive 911 funds in the amount of $75,000 for a digital logging recorder.

FUNDING SOURCE: Funds will come from the Jefferson County 911 Authority Board.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The funding from the Jefferson County 911 Authority Board for the City of Lakewood has been pre-approved in the 2003 budget to purchase a logging recorder. All radio and telephone conversations in the Communications Section are recorded continuously. Continuous recording is needed for evidentiary purposes as well as any other purpose deemed by the department to be appropriate. All tape recordings of telephone and radio traffic calls are accessible through the Communications Section. These are made available as needed to comply with all legal requirements, accreditation standards and investigative and training needs.
