A RESOLUTION

AUTHORIZING THE ENTERING INTO THE DICTAPHONE LOGGING RECORDER CONTRACT

WHEREAS, The City of Lakewood has elected to purchase the Dictaphone Corporation's Freedom VoIP Recorder through the RFP process. The design is built on state-of-the-art network appliance architecture that facilitates disaster recovery strategies for a voice recoding system. It provides quality monitoring for public safety; The total cost is $75,000.

WHEREAS, The Jefferson County 911 Authority Board has appropriated funds for the purchase of a logging recorder for the City of Lakewood Police Communications Center. The amount budgeted for our department in 2003 is in the amount of $75,000.

WHEREAS, All telephone and radio conversations in the Communications Section are recorded continuously. It is necessary to preserve these communications for evidence or any other purpose deemed by the department to be appropriate. All tape recordings of telephone and radio traffic calls are accessible through the Communications Section. These are made available as is necessary to comply with all legal requirements, accreditation standards, investigative requests and training needs of the department.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado that:

1) The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute, and the City Clerk to attest to a contract with Dictaphone Corporation for the purchase of Freedom VolP Recorder for the amount of $75,000, in a form approved by the City Attorney.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of 11 for and 0 against at a regular meeting of the City Council on May 12, 2003, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
