A RESOLUTION

RECOMMENDING SUPPORT FOR THE US6/SH 121 INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION FEASIBILITY STUDY AND THE WADSWORTH CORRIDOR STUDY BEING ADDED TO THE REAUTHORIZATION OF THE TEA-21 LEGISLATION

WHEREAS, State Highway 121, Wadsworth Boulevard, is on the National Highway System (NHS), and;

WHEREAS, Wadsworth Boulevard is a major regional arterial in the Denver area Regional Transportation Plan, and;

WHEREAS, Wadsworth Boulevard is an arterial roadway in the Countywide Transportation Plan, and;

WHEREAS, Wadsworth Boulevard is an arterial roadway in the City of Lakewood's Major Street Plan, carrying in excess of 55,000 vehicles per day, and;

WHEREAS, the Wadsworth Boulevard and US 6 interchange is a part of the unfunded 7th Pot requested by the Colorado Department of Transportation for reauthorization, and;

WHEREAS, Wadsworth Boulevard has been submitted by Jefferson County as a project request for the federal transportation reauthorization,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, that:

SECTION 1. The City of Lakewood supports inclusion of the Feasibility Study for the US 6/ SH 121 (Wadsworth) interchange in the federal transportation reauthorization bill and FY 2004 appropriation.

SECTION 2. The City of Lakewood supports inclusion of the Corridor Feasibility study of Wadsworth Boulevard in Jefferson County, from C-470 to US 36, in the federal transportation reauthorization bill.
