RESOLUTION: 2003-17
SUBJECT: Acceptance of bid for construction of Bear Creek Lake Park Swim Beach Site Improvements.
ADDRESS: 15600 W. Morrison Road, Lakewood, CO 80228
RECOMMENDATION: The Department of Community Resources recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with Cross Paving and Excavating, Inc. for the construction of the Bear Creek Lake Park Swim Beach Site Improvements.
FUNDING SOURCE: This project is budgeted in the Community Resources 2003 Capital Improvement Program, which is funded by the City's attributable shares of the Jefferson County Open Space Funds.
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The project consists of a 30' x 44' picnic shelter west of the swim beach, an additional paved parking lot for 90 cars, curb and gutter, and sidewalks at Bear Creek Lake Park. Since we opened the swim beach in 1997, the original 85-car parking lot has been consistently full, requiring patrons to utilize a dirt overflow parking area. This project will alleviate the need to park in the dirt parking area and also provide a much-needed picnicking area. The project is funded partially (50%) by a grant from Jefferson County Open Space. These site improvements are consistent with the approved Master Plan for Bear Creek Lake Park.
