ORDINANCE: O-2003-20
SUBJECT: Building Codes Update
RECOMMENDATION: Adoption of the ordinance
SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:
Periodically building codes are updated to provide safety while recognizing new construction materials and methods. The proposed codes were discussed during the Study Session of July 7. The Policy Report associated with the Study Session is attached.
During the Study Session, Council requested additional information from the West Metro Fire Protection District. Specific questions were raised regarding the Fire Code requirement that open-flame cooking devices not be operated on combustible balconies of multi-family buildings such as apartments, condominiums and townhomes. A memorandum providing the additional information will be provided to Council no later than the Friday Report of July 18.
