Summary info for the Habitat For Humanity (HFH) development at 1473 South Pierce in Lakewood (Parkview West Town homes)

In the Spring of 2002, the Lakewood Housing Authority (LHA) agreed to contribute 1.7 acres of 4-R zoned land to HFH for the development of 18 town homes for lower income families. HFH agreed to set aside 50% of the units for LHA residents.

Over the next several months, the families were selected and construction began in the fall of 2002. In addition to the land contribution by the Housing Authority, the City of Lakewood aided the development by granting over $75,000 in HOME funds for infrastructure. As required by HFH, each family contributed at least 500 hours toward the construction of the units. In addition many other individuals, companies, service organizations and church groups contributed major amounts of money, time and effort toward the completion of the units.

This is the largest development ever completed by HFH in Metro Denver and the first town home project for Habitat of Metro Denver.

The units were substantially completed and a grand opening celebration was held in July 2003. HFH expects to have the final CO's and transfer ownership to the families in September 2003.

The 18 new homeowner families are an international group. Starting with families from the USA, there are families from Iran, Mexico, Turkey, Ukraine and Africa. There are single parent and dual-parent households, as well as households containing 3 generations of extended family. Finally, Parkview West will house 43 children, some of which will have their own bedroom for the first time in their lives.
