New Business
Niña Johnson gave an update on the drought situation regarding festivals
and events at Belmar Park.
¨ Old Glory is moving to Boulder.
¨ Irish Fest will not be held in the park.
¨ ArtFest will be held in the Plaza area (same as last year).
¨ Lakewood on Parade will be at the Heritage Center in a much-constricted
form using park paths.
¨ Powwow is now a multi-cultural dance festival and is being hosted as a
co-sponsorship with us and the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and
will be held a their venue.

¨ Mayor's Tree Lighting will be held at the Heritage Center.
¨ Summer Concert Series will be held in the Plaza area.
Niña reported that there is a Planning Commission meeting tonight and she will be bringing to the commission the first historical designation for Lakewood, the Valentine Diner. It was planned to have this designation done last month but due to the snowstorm it was pushed back. Niña stated that the State Historical Fund Grant for the Valentine Diner was rejected because the diner was not a designated property. If the property is designated tonight, then Niña will apply for the next grant round in October 2003.
Barbara Martin said that she had finally received a raffle license. Hopefully by the next meeting she will be selling tickets!
STAFF REPORTS
Kim Kritz stated the BRAVO has been mailed and looks great. The Sentinel put
out a "Living in Lakewood" publication insert in the paper this past
week. It was a great promotional item for HCA. A reminder from Rose Watson that
the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner is next Tuesday, April 22. Please make sure
you RSVP to Rose.
Robin Anderson spoke with Chuck Parson of the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design about participating in the Art on the Commons program not only with his own work but also his past students. He will help do presentations about the program and put together packets etc.
Mike Buhler asked if any of the commissioners could come up with a great name for the new multi-cultural festival being held with RMCAD to let him know within the next 48 hours.
Kris Anderson stated that on the 15th of May three exhibits will open. 1)Everyday Patriotism 2)Metro State Industrial Design Exhibit, 3)Metro State Interior Spaces Exhibit. There will be some really great pieces in these exhibits.

used by diners. Also, working on architectural icons and worksheets for a scavenger
hunt and received a grant for $250.
Susan Martin stated that the subscription brochure will be ready the end of
May or first of June. Bookings continue to be strong.
