Draft resolution for the Wadsworth Corridor Study

A RESOLUTION

RECOMMENDING SUPPORT FOR THE US6/SH 121 INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION FEASIBILITY STUDY AND THE WADSWORTH CORRIDOR STUDY BEING ADDED TO THE REAUTHORIZATION OF THE TEA-21 LEGISLATION.


WHEREAS, State Highway 121, Wadsworth Boulevard, is on the National Highway System (NHS), and;

WHEREAS, Wadsworth Boulevard is a major regional arterial in the Denver area Regional Transportation Plan, and;

WHEREAS, Wadsworth Boulevard is an arterial roadway in the Countywide Transportation Plan, and;

WHEREAS, Wadsworth Boulevard is an arterial roadway in the City of Lakewood's Major Street Plan, carrying in excess of 55,00 vehicles per day, and;

WHEREAS, the Wadsworth Boulevard and US 6 interchange is a part of the unfounded 7th Pot requested by the Colorado Department of Transportation for reauthorization, and;

WHEREAS, Wadsworth Boulevard has been submitted by Jefferson County as a project request for the federal transportation reauthorization,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, that:

SECTION 1. The City of Lakewood supports inclusion of the Feasibility Study for the U.S. 6/ S.H 121 (Wadsworth) interchange in the federal transportation reauthorization bill.

SECTION 2. The City of Lakewood supports inclusion of the Corridor Feasibility study of Wadsworth Boulevard in Jefferson County, from C-470 to US 36, in the federal transportation reauthorization bill.
