MINUTES
December 11, 2002

COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Jackie Campeau, Nina Else, JoAnn Furay, Faye Hastings, Walt Heidenfelder, Roice Horning, Barbara Kostner, Jean Kyle, Bob Lanky, Bill Minard

CITY COUNCIL: Debbie Koop, Cheryl Wise

STAFF: Edie Richey, Tami Fischer

CULTURAL DIVERSITY COMMISSION LIAISON: Harry Cullis

GUESTS: Roger Wadnall, Manager for Strategic Planning; Tom Quinn, member, Planning Commission

The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by JoAnn Furay, Chairperson.

I. Approval of Minutes; Chair Notices - The minutes of the November 13, 2002 meeting were distributed. Bob urged members to contact their elected officials in support of continuance of the Older Coloradan Act.

II. Comprehensive Plan Questions, Comments and Reactions - Roger Wadnall and Tom Quinn answered questions about the Draft Lakewood Comprehensive Plan and explained various items about which Commission members expressed concerns. Roice took notes on the discussion and concerns raised, and will prepare a synopsis of our recommendations to give the Planning Commission.

III. Holiday Potluck Dinner - Over dinner the Commissioners continued to work, sharing information, discussing terms of various members, reviewing proposed bylaws changes, accepting the minutes of the November 13 meeting, and listening to the Cultural Diversity Commission report by Harry, who did not stay for the dinner.

IV. Cultural Diversity Liaison Report - Handled in item III above.

V. Final Discussion on the Bylaws - Handled in item IV above.

VI. Elections for Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary - The following slate was presented: Roice for Chair, Nina for Vice-Chair, and Barbara for Secretary. Jean moved to accept the slate of nominations. Jackie seconded the motion. Motion passed. Jean moved we express our heartfelt appreciation to JoAnn for the terrific leadership she has provided the past two years. Motion seconded and passed, with applause.

The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
