ITEM 1 - CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Burkholder called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Cabinet Room of the Lakewood Civic Center South Building, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.

ITEM 3 - PRESENTATION - PROPOSED YOUTH COMMISSION
Councilwoman Jackie Herbst introduced two 10th-grade students from Lakewood
High School, Cassiope Sydoriak and Nicole Wong, who presented their thoughts
on the City having a youth commission for youth to express their opinions and
ideas regarding the City of Lakewood. Megan Quinn, a 9th grade student from
Alameda High School, was also in attendance and was in support of a youth commission.
Discussion ensued amongst Council members. After discussing the proposal, City Council agreed to have the students move forward with a pilot program. Council asked that the students have a proposal outlining the specific criteria of a youth commission/committee to them in May of 2003.
It was decided that Councilwoman Herbst would meet with the youth and work with them to formalize the proposal.
ITEM 4 - COUNCIL OPEN DISCUSSION
Councilman Murphy asked if staff was looking into a proposed ordinance change
regarding the lack of water and its effect on landscaping regulations of new
homes.
Councilwoman Koop asked staff if the trees at O'Kane Park were being deep watered, and in particular, the memorial trees that have been planted there.
Councilwoman Kesselman stated that Indian Hills had well watering and asked if Lakewood was considering same.
City Manager Mike Rock stated he would review the above items with staff and provide answers back to City Council.
ITEM 5 - REPORTS-MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
Mayor, City Council, and staff reports and upcoming meetings were announced.
ITEM 6 - ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Burkholder adjourned the study session at 8:42 p.m.
