Request for Council Action for Resolution 2002-89 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

RESOLUTION: 2002-89

SUBJECT: Purchase of Mower Replacements

RECOMMENDATION: Approval

FUNDING SOURCE: Equipment Replacement Fund

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: Mowers #546 and #538 used in the Urban Parks Division of Community Resources need to be replaced as they have reached the end of their useable life. Unit #538 is currently not operable and in need of repairs. #546 is the last remaining Howard Price 180 in the inventory. The recommendation is to replace unit #546 with a Toro 580D and unit #538 with a Toro 328D. The Toro products have proven to have fewer mechanical problems than the Howard Price units, and they come with a longer factory warranty. The mowers will be a sole source purchase from LL Johnson due to them having the desired products in their inventory, they offer satisfactory warranty service and have quoted a price of $63,988 which is $2,609 less than the $66,597 base price.
