Request for Council Action for Resolution 2002-79 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

RESOLUTION: 2002-79

SUBJECT: A resolution authorizing the City of Lakewood to enter into an Agreement with Jefferson County and the Lena Gulch Metropolitan District to improve West 7th Avenue and Fig Street.

RECOMMENDATION: Approval.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The City Council previously authorized vacation of a portion of 8th Avenue east of Indiana Street. That portion of 8th Avenue has since been closed and traffic on 8th Avenue east of the closure now accesses Indiana Street by turning south on Fig Street to 7th Avenue and then continuing west on 7th Avenue to Indiana Street.

West 8th Avenue, West 7th Avenue and Fig Street are owned and maintained by the City and the County. It will be necessary for future development in the area to have improvements constructed on Fig Street from 7th to 8th and on 7th Avenue from Indiana to Fig.

The City, the County and the District wish to enter into an agreement providing that the District will construct and fund the improvements.
