RESOLUTION: 2002-70
SUBJECT: Amend Intergovernmental Agreement creating the Household Hazardous Waste Storage Authority.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve
FUNDING SOURCE: Environmental Services
SUMMARY AND BACKROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER: The Household Hazardous Waste Storage Authority was first established in 1993 to provide a safe, convenient place where household chemical waste from all citizens of Jefferson County can be safely collected, stored and properly disposed of offsite. Given the growing popularity of the program, it is now necessary to amend the Intergovernmental Agreement to include the following changes to the program:
· Change the name to the Rooney Road Recycling Center.
· Enlarge the scope of the waste that can be collected to include newspapers,
glass, electronic components, bottles, metal cans, tree related waste and small
business related chemical wastes
· Allow non-Jefferson County residents the ability to use the center
as long as the program is duly compensated and county residents are not inconvenienced.
