A RESOLUTION

APPROVING THE SELECTION OF SEVEN (7) PIECES OF SCULPTURE IN THE CIVIC CENTER PLAZA AS PART OF THE ART ON THE COMMONS 2002-2003 ART-ON-LOAN PROGRAM.

WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood and the Heritage, Culture & the Arts Commission established Art on the Commons, an 11-month three-dimensional art-on-loan program; and

WHEREAS, the Public Art Committee, a standing committee of the Heritage, Culture & the Arts Commission, has juried the solicited application entries and forwarded their recommendation for selection of the seven (7) finalists (Richard Eversley, Standing Woman; Phyllis Beattie, Butterfly Kiss; Phyllis Beattie, Dorothy and Friends; Frank Iantorno, New Hopes, New Fears, Ellis Island; Frank Iantorno, Vintage I; William Vielehr, Human Glyph Series A; Anny B. Coury, Pseudo Moebius) to the Heritage, Culture & the Arts Commission; and

WHEREAS, the Heritage, Culture & the Arts Commission has approved the Public Art Committee recommendation to accept the seven (7) finalists and submit them to City Council for approval.

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have viewed the seven (7) finalists and wish to approve these seven (7) pieces of sculpture for display in the Civic Plaza of the Lakewood City Commons.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakewood, Colorado, that:

SECTION 1: The Mayor and City Council hereby approve the recommendation of the Department of Community Resources and the Heritage, Culture & the Arts Commission of the specified seven (7) pieces of sculpture to be displayed in the Art on the Commons 2002-2003 program on the Civic Plaza of the Lakewood City Commons.

INTRODUCED, READ AND ADOPTED by a vote of for and against at a regular meeting of the City Council on June 24, 2002, at 7 o'clock p.m. at Lakewood Civic Center, 480 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado.
