SUBJECT: Purchase of Police Cars and Motorcycles

RECOMMENDATION: Approval

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER Vehicle requirements for the Police Department include the purchase of five additional police cars in the sum of One Hundred Two Thousand, Four Hundred Fifteen Dollars ($102,415.00), and five motorcycles in the sum of Fifty-five Thousand, Eight Hundred Dollars ($55,800.00). The total cost is One Hundred Fifty-eight Thousand, Two Hundred Fifteen Dollars ($158,215.00). The motorcycles will be a sole source purchase from Foothills BMW due to a superior antilock braking system made only on this brand of motorcycle.

One of the police cars will be used to patrol the Mills retail center. Under agreement, Colorado Mills has agreed to pay the City for the purchase of one of the police cars.
