Request for Council Action for Ordinance 2002-39 REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ORDINANCE: O-2002-39 and O-2002-40

SUBJECT: Proposed ordinance amendments to 9.85 and 9.80 of the Lakewood Municipal Code increasing administrative fees for removal of nuisance violations including junk, rubbish, weeds, graffiti, and trash.

RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of this ordinance amendment request.

SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND OF SUBJECT MATTER:

The ordinance concerning administrative fees has not been revised since the early 1990's when originally adopted. The fees in these programs are consistent in an effort to simplify billing processes. The fees in the current ordinances are "at least $75.00" and the proposed increase is "at least $100.00." Administrative fees include reasonable attorney's fees and other costs associated with removal of the violations as well as collection for work performed.
