The Records Section charges a reasonable fee for copies of police reports, traffic accident reports and other services. Please click on "Services & Fees" at left for a complete fee schedule, as well as information regarding impounded vehicles and other pertinent Records information. If you cannot complete a Records Request in person, you may request a report in writing by clicking on "Records Request Form" at left, downloading and filling out the form, and mailing it to us with the appropriate fees enclosed. Checks must be made payable to the "City of Lakewood."

Colorado State Statute prohibits the release of certain reports or information relating to at-risk adults, juveniles, victims of crime and on-going police investigations. Reports will be reviewed by appropriate personnel to determine if reports can be released. This process takes three to five business days to complete. Basic traffic accidents and traffic-related offenses are considered public record and can be released immediately at our Public Window.

The Records Section can also provide criminal background checks for contacts within the City of Lakewood. If you require a statewide background check or a background check from another jurisdiction, please visit the law enforcement agency in that jurisdiction or contact the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
690 Kipling Street, Lakewood, CO 80215.
