Chief
Kevin Paletta was raised in Scottsdale, Ariz., where he attended
college at Arizona State University. He graduated cum laude with
a Bachelor's of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Upon completion
of his studies in 1981, Kevin was accepted as a police agent with
the Lakewood Police Department.
In
his 27-year career, Kevin has held line level, supervisory, and
leadership positions in all of the department's three divisions.
His career highlights include leading the Patrol Division's transition
to a community policing philosophy known as Sector Based Policing
and serving as project manager for the department's entire computer
system upgrade. He received the Police Service Award for his efforts.
He holds a Masters of Arts degree in Management from Regis University
and is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum's Senior
Management Institute in Policing. He is active with the local Kiwanis,
and sits on the Board of Directors for the Jefferson County Children's
Alliance and the Foothills Credit Union.
He
is married to Carolyn, a Jefferson County school teacher and they
have three children: a married daughter who is also a school teacher,
a son in college, and a son finishing high school and on his way
to culinary school in New York.
