Ride Along with Police Agents

Those citizens interested in observing the duties of a patrol agent from an unique and close-up perspective may wish to ride along for a portion of an agent's shift. To be eligible for riding along with Lakewood Police, you must live, work or go to school in the city. If you are a current recruit or applicant for a police agent position with the Lakewood Police Department, you may also ride along with an agent.

You also have to be at least 16 years old and have permission from your parents. If you are 18 years old or older, you do not need parental persmission.

Those who are interested must also provide a name and date of birth to the department to allow a background check to be conducted. There is a two-week waiting period while this background check is done.

Ride-alongs last for four hours and can be done once every six months.
