Camp
Paha Staff
At Camp Paha, our staff are energetic, fun, creative, caring, patient and responsible young people who are excited about providing a safe, fun and quality day camp experience for campers. Camp Paha Staff range from students in college majoring in or having interest in special education, therapeutic recreation, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and pre-med to teachers at local schools to young adults still in high school. Staff work in a close-knit, intense team environment and are supported by Admin Staff, the Camp Director and the Camp Executive Director.

Staff at Camp Paha receive training in the following areas: CPR, First Aid, Disability Awareness, Medication Administration, physical and personal care, team building, diversity training, problem solving skills, behavior management, leadership & supervision, and decision making skills.
All camp staff is required to attend a 5 day pre-camp training from June 8, 2009 through June 12, 2009. This is for staff training and camp orientation and cannot be missed.

Camp Paha Executive Director:
The Executive Director serves to direct and coordinate all operations and staff with Camp Paha. The Executive Director is ultimately responsible for the hiring/firing of staff. The Executive Director is also responsible for the financial administration of Camp Paha.
April Rosenthal is Camp Paha’s Executive Director. April is originally from New England and moved here from Cleveland, Ohio, where she was an Outdoor Adaptive Recreation Specialist at Cleveland Metroparks. April received her Masters in Therapeutic Recreation Administration from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. April is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and is very excited to work with Camp Paha in 2009.
Camp Paha Director
The primary responsibility of the Camp Director is the direct supervision of Camp Staff as well as the day-to-day operations of the Camp. The Director coordinates staff and programming to ensure a safe, quality and learning-rich environment.
Mark Snow is Camp Paha’s Director. Mark is originally from Columbia, Missouri and moved to Colorado from Dallas, Texas. Mark has a Master’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of North Texas and is currently a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Mark has an extensive background in working at camps for children and young adults with special needs and disabilities and is excited to apply his knowledge to Camp Paha in the Summer of 2009.
Camp Paha Assistant Director Group Life A/B
The Assistant Director for Group Life A/B will directly supervise and coordinate all campers and staff in their groups. Assistant Director will ensure a positive, quality and safe camp environment for all campers and staff at Camp Paha. The Assistant Director will also directly supervise Head Counselors and Counselors in their group and will be the contact for all camper and staff issues in their group. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Camp Director regarding group activities and fieldtrips. The Assistant Director will also assistant Head Counselors and Counselors with staffing needs as necessary and will communicate directly with parents of campers on a daily basis. The Assistant Director will also serve as the Camp Director in the absence of the Camp Director. The Assistant Directors for Group Life A/B will report directly to the Camp Director.
Staff Resource Coordinator
The Staff Resource Coordinator will directly supervise and coordinate all Junior Staff and Volunteers, including Junior Counselors, Counselors in Training and other assigned staff. This will include scheduling sufficient junior staff in all areas of camp, including before and after care. The Staff Resource Coordinator will provide staff training and leadership of positive behavior supports and techniques for working with campers. This position will serve as a backup to the Group Life Assistant Directors and the Camp Director as needed. The Staff Resource Coordinator will report directly to the Camp Director.
Activity Specialist Coordinator
The Activity Specialist Coordinator will directly supervise and coordinate all Activity Specialists. The Activity Specialist Coordinator will provide all programmatic support to Activity Specialists in the areas of Aquatics, Arts and Crafts, Nature, Music and Drama, Sports and Games, Outdoor Skills, and Sensory Room. The Activity Specialist Coordinator is responsible for the procurement and allocation of activity supplies, staffing support and program planning/evaluation. The Activity Specialist Coordinator will report directly to the Camp Director.
Activity Specialists
Activity Specialists are responsible for the programming and administration of programs in their concentrated activity area. Activity Specialists are supervised directly by the Camp Director and most operate independently to plan, implement and evaluate their programming. Activity Specialists are generally focused in one (or more) areas: Aquatics, Arts and Crafts, Nature, Music and Drama, Sports and Games, Outdoor Skills, and Sensory Room. Activity Specialists will report directly to the Activity Specialist Coordinator.
Head Counselors
Head Counselors directly coordinate their group of 8-11 campers, the Counselors, Assistant Counselors, Counselors In Training, Junior Counselors, Assistant Counselors and Volunteers that may be assigned to their group. Head Counselors will report directly to their group’s Assistant Director of Camp Life.
Counselors / Assistant Counselors
Counselors and Assistant Counselors work directly with Campers and other Counselors to ensure a safe, quality, and fun camp environment. Counselors are also responsible for direct camper care and supervision. Counselors will work directly with their group of Counselors and Campers specifically throughout the summer. Counselors will report directly to Head Counselors. Assistant Counselors serve as needed assignments and on-call substitutes and report directly to their group's Head Counselor. Counselors are generally 16 years old and older.
Counselors In Training (C.I.T.)
C.I.T.s will learn how to work with campers with disabilities. C.I.T. will work directly with their group of campers and counselors to ensure a safe, quality and fun camp environment. C.I.T. will work as a part of a team of counselors. Counselors in Training will report directly to the Junior Staff and Staff Support Coordinator. CITs are generally 13-15 years old.
Volunteers
Volunteers will provide an invaluable service – working closely with Camp Paha Staff and Campers to provide a quality, safe and fun camp environment. Volunteers will report directly to the Junior Staff and Staff Support Coordinator. Volunteers will ideally be able to commit to a weekly schedule coordinated with the Junior Staff and Staff Support Specialist. By utilizing the support of Volunteers, Camp Paha is able to keep administrative costs down and pass those savings along to Campers’ families. Volunteers will report directly to the Junior Staff and Staff Support Coordinator.
